What Causes A Large Red Lump Under The Tongue And Excessive Salivation?
Hi over the last 3 days I have noticed a large red lump on the underside of my tongue attached to the frendulum, I smoke so am very concerned, could you advise if I should go to a doctor, it s not painful unless prodded and I can eat and drink fine. I seem to have a lot of saliva since it appeared. Thank you
Hi, The lump can be caused from different infectious conditions. You will need to see an Infectionist or a Dermatologist. It can be STDs, Herpes or organic diseases showing in your mouth. Menawhile, I would suggest to stop smoking until you see the specialist, or at least to reduce the amount of cigarettes per day. Salivation is a defense mechanism of your body toward the lump. You don't have to worry about it. Your body is trying to heal the wound. I hope I have answered your question. Wish you good health! Manoku Eni M.D.
