What Causes A Large , Soft Lump On The Left Rib Cage Under The Breast?
I have a somewhat large, soft lump on my left upper ribcage just under my breast. Immediately below my left breast it has become concave with the soft lump, approx 8 cm long and 4 cm wide, on top of my upper left ribs. It is intermittantly tender, with spasms noted with increase in size, when I become "gassy" and bloated for with exercise. When the spasms come on the lump becomes larger, painful and very odvious to the eye. Can I have a hernia in this location?
After hearing your history i do not think you are having hernia. I would advise you to do a CT scan of chset with bilateral mammography
If any lesion is found in the scan then biopsy has to be done to rule out malignancy.
A biopsy is a sample of tissue taken from the body in order to examine it more closely. A doctor should recommend a biopsy when an initial test suggests an area of tissue in the body isn't normal.
Doctors may call an area of abnormal tissue a lesion, a tumor, or a mass. These are general words used to emphasize the unknown nature of the tissue. The suspicious area may be noticed during a physical examination or internally on an imaging test.
