What Causes A Lump And Bruise On The Head After A Fall?
My daughter fell head first onto hard tiling floor. I heard a nasty sound, sort of like a large crack and when I ran to her saw that the spot on her head was slightly indented. Within seconds it turned into a bruise and then a small egg and a few hours later you could barely even see she had an injury. She seemed totally fine after about 10 minutes of crying and spent the day as a flower girl. I m scared as I read about indentation to the head though about being really serious. I have seen no other symptoms though other than when she went down. Should I be waking her up through the night?
Hi...Thank you for consulting in Health Care magic. I understand your concern. First be reassured that your kid is normal. I will suggest you danger signs of head injury - 1. Vomiting continuously 2. Seizures 3. Watery of bloody discharge from ears and nose 4. Unconsciousness 5. Altered sensorium or behaviour. If none of them are present, I don't think you should worry about his trivial head injury. For pain you can give oral Paracetamol in the dose of 15mg/kg/dose every 4-6th hourly. Hope my answer was helpful for you. I am happy to help any time. Further clarifications and consultations on Health care magic are welcome. If you do not have any clarifications, you can close the discussion and rate the answer. Wish your kid good health. Dr. Sumanth MBBS., DCH., DNB (Paed).,
