What Causes A Noticeable Bump On The Head?

I have a noticeable bump on the upper right back of my head & im not sure how long it s been there. I just thought it was part of my lumpy head. Now my daughters have me concerned to have it checked out. Who should I contact? I only go to my Primary care physician once a year for a physical, & consider myself very healthy. I haven t had headaches, or any sign anything is wrong.

Hello!

Welcome on Healthcaremagic!

The bump in this region could be related to different possible causes (an old trauma in this region, vitamin D or calcium deficiency, inflammation, a lipoma, etc..).
Anyway, it doesn't seem to be anything serious as you are feeling OK and have not fever or headache.
Anyway,I would recommend consulting with your GP for a physical exam and performing an scull X ray study and some blood lab tests (complete blood count, PCR, sedimentation rate, calcium and phosphorus plasma levels, vitamin D levels).

Hope you will find this answer helpful!
I remain at your disposal for any further questions.
Best wishes, Dr. Aida
