What Causes A Painful Pulling Sensation Behind The Left Ear?

My mother who is 80 has a pulling pain behind her left ear. It is between her scalp and skull. It fells like someone is pulling a few hairs from the inside. What could this be and what could cause it? She did fall about a month ago and hit her head on a marble table almost in the same area.
Thank you,
Teresa

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As per my clinical judgment, it sounds to be from possible hematoma under the skin or internal scalp layer with stretching effect over the area behind the ear.

I would recommend ice application, anti inflammatory medicines as Ibuprofen with antacids and follow up after 2 days about the progress.

Take care.
