What Causes A Prolonged Period After Taking I-pill?

Hii I m 21 yrs. I m in a relationship from one month. After intimating with my partner I took I pill and then after 10 days my monthly periods came and then after 10 days again it came for 10 days. What should I do now coz today is my 8 day of periods and bleeding is normal

Thanks for posting your query. I would like to offer my opinion. Emergency contraceptive pill contains high doses of hormone and hence, causes hormone disturbances. This can lead to withdrawal bleeding and a delayed natural cycle. You seem to have experienced withdrawal bleeding followed by a delayed natural cycle. In the current scenario, you have to see a specialist for proper management since you are bleeding for a prolonged period. Styptics can be used to control the bleeding. Use regular contraception and restrict the use of emergency contraception for one or two occasions per year. Hope this helps.
