What Causes A Protruding Tongue In Infants?

hello, my son is just shy of 4 months old and we noticed this evening he kept his tongue out for long periods of time as if he did not have proper control of it, could there be something wrong with him such as some type of syndrome or something? thank you

Protrusion of tongue will occur in case of Downs syndrome or congenital hypothyroidism.
