What Causes A Rash On The Forehead After Tooth Extraction?

My mother is 84 years old. She had a tooth pulled 6 days ago. She had a stroke 2 years ago. She has developed a rash on her forehead, hairline and over her eyebrow as of 2 days ago. She says that it itches and hurts when she scratches it. She is not taking any different medications.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Tooth extraction does not cause eruption of rashes. It could be due to some allergic reaction to medication taken after tooth extractions. Analgesics (pain relievers) and antibiotics can cause these kind of rashes.

Wishing you good health.

Thanks.
