What Causes A Sensation Of Blood Flow In Arms And Legs?

During the past couple of weeks, my 10-year-old son has been complaining that it feels like all is blood is running into his leg or arm. It s not always the same arm or leg, and it s only one at a time. What could cause this sensation? He is tall for his age and very skinny.
