What Causes A Weak Urine Stream After Undergoing Urethroplasty?

Hello, I am a 33 year old male, i had a urethroplasty done 12 years ago and experienced no complications since until now. I have a weak split urine stream. It is painless. I noticed the problem roughly 3 months ago and went to the doctor roughly 1 month after the problem seemed to be getting worse. i had a UTI and took the antibiotics prescribed to me. the infection cleared but the problem only improved marginally. i am to undergo a cystoscopy and i am very frightened that i will have to undergo another urethoplasty. I think it is unlikely that it is prostatitis and i am just hoping that there can be another explanation.

Urologist 's  Response
Hello and welcome to HCM.
As an Urologist,i can fully understand your concern.
After an urethroplasty, the commonest complication is a stricture.
A stricture is a narrowing of the urinary tube, where urethroplasty was done.
That's the cause for your symptoms.Tests for finding cause of stricture are :
1. Blood routine,creatinine,RBS,LFT,platelets,VDRL,HIV,and HbsAg.
2. After this,a urethro-cystogram and cystoscopy if needed.
Prostatitis isn't a cause for your symptoms. Cystoscopy is a routine test.
If you've any doubts, you can send me a direct question, with reports.
