What Causes A White Bump Near The Anal Opening?

I don't want to see my GP about this if I don't have to , but I have a white bump, about the size of a bean just outside my anus. it's not too hard and not too soft , and it appeared over night and during the last few days , the pain has got to less and less, but the bump is still there. IS it some kind of blister?
