Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes A White Painless Skin Flap Back Side Of Tongue?
I have a white painless skin flap on the very back side of my tongue. My dentist suggested it was caused from me biting it years ago and said since it causes no pain I shouldn't worry. I just want to be sure it's not something I should get looked at its about the size of a pencil eraser and I can move it around with my finger. Any suggestions?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your query a painless skin flap at the back of tongue can be overgrowth of mucosa or the fibrous tissue known as Fibroma..
It can also be overgrowth of the tongue papillae.. I would suggest you to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and he can advise you Biopsy of the lesion to evaluate it for the exact nature of the growth and treatment can be planned accordingly..
If it is benign and harmless it can be removed surgically under local anaesthesia..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
