What Causes A Yellow Discharge Coming From Eyes?

My 5 1/2 month old son has a green/yellow discharge coming from his eyes. They are watering often and he keeps rubbing them. He seems to be coughing more than usual as well. He was near a 2 year old recently who has a cold but he doesn't have a fever or runny nose. What could this be from?

Hello
It seems from the history that your 5 1/2 year old child is having yellow discharge and watering from the eye associated with cough.
This indicates acute infective conjunctivitis associated with upper respiratory tract infection.
The treatment is by use of antibiotic eye drops for eye infection. The upper respiratory tract infection requires treatment by antibiotics and decongestant drugs.
Hence I advice you to consult your doctor for examination and prescription of drugs.

Thank you
