What Causes Abdominal Bloating, Diarrhea And Fats In Stool?

I have had moderate upper abdomen nausea and bloating after eating for 6 weeks. For the last 2 weeks I have had diarrhea with a lot of fat in the stool and today I had a long (approx. 16 in), thin, fibrous bowel movement. I ve had an upper GI series and labs recently and all was well. I have a gastric empting study in 1 week. Should I contact my MD about this unusual stool ?

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of abdominal bloating, diarrhea and fats in stool which seems to be infection caused by intestinal parasite. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like Irritable bowel syndrome , gastroenteritis , gas pains , food poisoning , constipation , giardiasis and viral gastroenteritis . Need not to worry. You should start with Tinidazole along with norflox single course, which will help a lot. I would suggest you to consult gastroenterologist for proper examination . Doctor may order stool test , blood test and take history . Doctor may prescribe loperamide , ornidazole , antiviral , albendazole along with laxative or omeprazole . For now eat light and non spicy take take 1-2 banana a day .
