What Causes Abdominal Cramps And Mild Constipation?
I am Mary Jane Horsburgh, an 83 year old female. I have chronic back pain and arthritis especially in shoulder and hip. I am being medicated for high blood pressure and gastroenteritis. I have sudden onset of stomach/abdominal cramping/griping pain, slightly hard stool but not full constipation. No relief from pain by taking Rolaids antacid liquid and Tums. Not nauseous or vomiting. How dangerous is this? What can I do to get relief from this pain?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Abdominal pain could be due to colic pain and it could be intestinal colic, renal colic, biliary colic, last but not least it can be due to dyspepsia, that might be associated with hyperacidity. As long as the pain is concern it can be managed with Tab Dicyclomine or any antispasmodic medicine but the underlying cause of pain is a matter of concern.
Hope this information helps.
