What Causes Abdominal Discomfort After Swallowing Chicken Bone?
Hello,
I'm a 32yr old, 200lb male, and last night I was very stupid and swallowed what probably was a chicken bone. I could feel it go down my throat in a pretty rough manner. Today, when I eat or drink something, I can feel a slight prickly sensation in my upper left side of my abdomen as the food or drink goes down. It's not painful per say, but I am somewhat concerned about it.
What is causing the sensation and should I be worried about the chicken bone not dislodging and causing potential health problems? OR will my body break down the bone and digest it OR coast it in mucus and just be expelled in my stool?
I've also read that some foreign objects are stored in a pocket somewhere in the body when it is unable to do any of the above. I've heard this can cause problems as well.
Should I be concerned or am I overreacting?
