What Causes Abdominal Distention In Babies?

a 7month old male baby weight 6300 gm without any weigh gain since 2 months he is active good sucker but with sever abdominal distension but no vomiting good bowel movement pass stool once/2days chest exam reveal diffuse rales stool analysis WNL abd U/S no organomegaly no masses or fluid collection only intestinal gases CBC with iron def anaemia it is abd distention with failure to thrive what is the possible dignosis?

Hi... please mention the dietary habit of the child. Failure to thrive can occur because of faulty feeding or improper initiation of complimentary feeds. Also as the child has anemia also its looks nutritional cause. I would advice burping for 15 to 20 min post feed to prevent gaseous abdominal distension. As the child is not having loose motions or vomiting malabsorption seems unlikely.
