What Causes Abdominal Pain And Bloating?

My daughter is having upper left stomach pain and constant bloating no matter what she eats and she is nauseous every morning. She does NOT have constipation or diarrhea. Her PCP tried something for acid reflux, no luck. She also checked her urinalysis for kidney or bladder infection because her back hurt in the same area as her stomach. We went to a Pediatrics GI doctor yesterday and he has no idea and we are having an EGD done, but not for another week. Today she told me the last two days she has started to urinate before she even sits down on the toilet in the morning without even realizing or feeling like she has to go all that bad. I have a call into her doctor right now but her Dad thinks I should take her to the ED because they haven t done any other tests - no blood work or scans of any kind.

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history about your daughter and understood the concerns.
Since you have not mentioned the age of your Daughter, it will be difficult to pinpoint the cause.
Hence the possible cause of her problem of pain and bloating in the left upper side of abdomen can be due to the following:
Colitis as the tests would be normal.
Sudden start of urinary incontinence indicate that there can be a spinal problem or sort of an infection that developed very recently.
Hence better to go to ER as the ultrasonography, tests of blood and urine along with stool can give an idea.
You also get a second opinion of another Doctor.
Let us wait for the EGD reports to come.
Also get an opinion of an Urologist and further tests like CT scan of the abdomen and so on.
All these may lead to a proper diagnosis and give a plan for further management.
If all the reports are normal, then a diagnosis of IBS that is irritable bowel syndrome can be thought about with an angle for stress and anxiety and treated accordingly to get a proper results.
Avoid the foods and beverages that instigate or enhance the problems.
