What Causes Abdominal Pain And Diarrhea?

Hi, I m 23, (46weight/female) and was diagnosed with typhoid on 28th September, 2014, with salmonella typhi o 1:160, and was given monocef through iv for three days, morning and night. Post that, I have been taking monocef o tablets, everyday, twice, along with randec and b complex (once a day). From 2 Oct, I have been experiencing severe diarrhea, with trips as frequent as every half hour. The stools are comparatively normal, but abdomen pain is severe. Please tell me, is this a process to recovery, or is it getting serious. My diet includes, hot rice and plain dal twice a day, fruit juices and coconut water Atleast 4 times a day, and breakfast of idli s. How long does it take to recover? And what are the recovery signs?

Hi,

Thank you for your query. I can understand your concerns.
It seems that you are having antibiotic associated diarrhea (monocef-o every day) .
Only 1–5% of patients who develop chronic carriage of Salmonella can be treated for 4–6 weeks with an appropriate oral antibiotic.
You need to stop the antibiotic and take probiotics e.g Yogurt or any other formulations available. If symptoms still persist, consult a Physician.
