Hi, I have participated as a Standardized Patient for a hospital. First year med students were told to give me abdomen exams (the symptoms were that of Crohns disease). The exam contained tapping and pushing on the four quadrants of my abdomen as well as feeling my liver, pancreas, (or spleen?). In any case, I had 18 abdomen exams performed on me (a very healthy 41 year old) in 2 days. I had slight bruising on my rib cage. After the second day, I ate and had bad stomach distention and cramps. I woke up the next day to unbearable back pain (I have never had back issues and, again, am very healthy, strong ab muscles, appropriate weight for my size - 5 3, etc.). My question is...could those exams have caused this or is it a coincidence that my back went out? My back is feeling better (this is day 5) but now my ribs are a bit achy and my stomach is still distended. I do have a doc appt set up in 3 days but would love to know your opinion. THANK YOU!
