What Causes Abdominal Pain And Red Strings In Stools?

I have been having severe lower abdominal pain when I eat for the past 2 days. It does not feel better when I lay a certain way. I recently had a bowel movement and found a 2 inch long string. It was not white, more like pink or red. The stool was very hard and small dots. What do you think?

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

You may be suffering from hard stools with mucus may be due to irritable bowel syndrome or due to bacillary dysentery or fissure or haemorrhoids etc.

Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is. Use tablet pantoprazole before breakfast for one week. Avoid spicy food and alcohol avoid smoking and caffeine drinks.

Use syrp lactulose thirty ml after dinner for five days in case of hard stools. Eat high fibre diet and green leafy vegetables.

If symptoms not improved please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
