What Causes Abnormal Urination Pattern?

In the last day or so my urine stream has been flowing very erratically when I attempt to stand and urinate. It will begin high, and the stream seems to alternate pressure halfway through the urination, and then it will fall to the normal "straight" stream. I do not move my penis or redirect it in anyway, the stream just changes directions and pulsates, so to speak. I just got back from a doctor's visit regarding flu-like symptoms and did not notice it before I went. Could these two things be connected? And is this something I should worry about?

The alteration in urination pattern might be hydration related or possible
from steroids prescribed for flu by the doctor.
