What Causes Abscess On Butt Cheek Of A Child?

My daughter is 2 years old and what looks to be an abcess on her butt cheek. It is red and inflamed and very sore to the touch when wiping her, she is still in diapers. I called fam doc and said to take her to er to get it drained but I do not think I am at that point right now. Any advise would help, Thanks.

The abscess you mentioned is usually bacterial commonly staphylococcal infection.

Send us some photos to identify the stage better
Try antiseptic ointments like fusidic acid, but most likely will need drainage as mentioned by your family doc
