What Causes Amenorrhea Along With High Prolactin Levels?
31 f, presenting with hereditary premature Menopause. No menses for 6mths, high fsh, high Lh, low estrogen. After the 6mths bleeding began every 2 weeks for 2-3days for several weeks, then stop, then start again, then stop. Most recent bloods show high prolactin levels. What s most likely occurring?
High FSH, LH levels with high prolactin a gonadotroph/pituitary adenoma needs to be looked for. An MRI brain is recommended. TSH, antithyroid antibodies, morning serum cortisol is needed to rule out autoimmune disorders. In case of primary ovarian failure karyotype analysis to rule out turners syndrome is also recommended.
