What Causes An Elevation In The ALT And PSA Level While Having Epididymitis?

My husband has had epididymitis for years and a few years ago had an elevated alt and ast due to liver cyst and normal psa. He was just seen and they felt nodule on prostate and his alt ast were even higher. A few hours After his prostate exam they drew labs for psa and the psa was triple the normal value. Do you think he has prostate cancer and it metastatic to his liver?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

It is very difficult to say without a CT scan. It is very likely that the liver cyst is acting up, but it is important to rule out the most dangerous cause, i.e. metastatic prostate cancer.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
