What Causes An Enlarged Prostate After An Angioplasty?
My dad is 77 years old and recently underwent angioplasty for a blocked artery. Post this his urine stopped completely. Doctors found enlarged prostate 82gms and have put him on Silodal with catheter for urine. Next surgery is ruled out for 5-6 months because of angioplasty done. I want to know how come he got this problem post surgery when prior to this he had no prostate symptoms and was not even aware of his prostate enlargement, can this be due to the anesthesia given in thighs? Also what options do we have now, are we stuck with catheter for 5-6 months? Pls advice.
Likely it was the anasthesia of the procedure that weakens the bladder.
The bladder cannot then push out the urine against the large prostate.
Catheters and medicine for 5-6 months will help the bladder heal and then he should be able to void without the catheter.
