What Causes An Intermittent Rise Of Temperature?

My 5 yr old son has had temps on and off for last 16 hrs. When they peak it is 39.6 he is also complaining of a headache on his forehead, and his eyes are a bit sore. Goes from being dull to very sharp. He looks pale, dark under eyes. I have been pushing fluids, hes not eating much though.

He is suffering from infection. Causes of fever with above symptoms of one day duration are multiple.they are
.viral fever
.tonsillopharyngitis
.pneumonia in evolution
.UTI
.typhoid
.malaria
So he needs to be examined and monitored for progression of disease. Fever will take 2-3 days to go.Give lots of fluids
