What Causes An Unexplained Bruise On The Arm?

I have a large unexplained bruise on my upper left arm, it appeared out of nowhere very dark with lots of broken blood vessels. There is also a large lump in the center, what could possibly cause this? It has not faded only gotten larger, and again there has not been any trauma to my arm.
