What Causes Anal Bleeding From Bowel Movements?

Occasionally, I suffer from anal bleeding from bowel movements. There is enough blood that the water turns almost completely red. Sometimes, when this happens it hurts and the faeces is hard. And I get sharp pains in my stomach at random times. Could you please tell me what this could be? Thank you.

Hello,

Please get a CT scan or a colonoscopy to detect the cause of bleeding which could be ulcer, polyp or diverticulitis.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Salah Saad Shoman, Internal Medicine Specialist
