What Causes Ankle Swelling?

I'm not pregnant and my last (recent) physical showed I'm a healthy 65+ yr old. I do a lot of computer work during the day, am a bit over weight. My left foot and ankle swell frequently - not my right foot and ankle though - what on earth is causing this?

Hi,
Looking at your medical history, I think your one side leg and ankle edema could be due to varicose veins.

Look at the limbs and see if you have any prominent veins. If yes, color Doppler might be necessary for confirmation of incompetent valves.
You can try varicose vein stockings regularly to reduce edema.
I do not think of any particular - only one cause, back pressure in veins. If not varicose, other cause needs to be evaluated.
Any further queries, happy to help again.
