What Causes Anxiety While Treating Pneumonia And UTI?
I have a friend that was in the hospital admitted for dehydration, then cam down with pneumonia & a urinary track infection. He is 91, of sane mind, & was sent to a rehab facility for rehab. Now is acting strange- anxious, saying he doesn t know what to, lost, almost crazy. Before, he was of sane & quick mind. Help!?

Hello,
This could be either from the infection or from the medications. You need to encourage the doctor to take a close look at the medications and make sure none of them are causing this problem. In the older patients, sometimes even a mild infection can cause mental status changes. If it is from the infection then it should clear as soon as the infection is treated adequately
