What Causes Autism?

I have a close friend who had chemotherapy about 7 years ago. She now has a 15 month old son who recently went for a speech evaluation because he is delayed. The evaluator told my friend that her son could have a broad spectrum disorder. So my question is could the chemotherapy treatments be the cause of autism?

The exact cause of autism is still not known so chemotherapy can not be safely ruled out as a cause of autism.
