What Causes Balding?

My 11 month old daughter got a small bald spot at the back of her head. It initially looked like the hair was severed. You could see more hairs growing but the spot was overall bald. It was red and pebbled but after using hydrocortisone cream, it healed and now slowly 1 month later hair is growing back. but I now noticed thining of her hair at the very bottom of the back of her head, close to the neck. And also at the sides of her head by her temples. it's like she's balding in these areas. I never notice clumps of hair anywhere. What is this? How long will it last? Is there a cure?

I have a notion that she is losing hair because of either allergy to the soap or the hair oil that you may be using. First of all, stop all soaps and oil applications. Start using a moisturiser like Cetaphil shampoo/soap on her, which is hypoallergenic and soft and light on a baby's hair.

Secondly, check on her nutrition. She should be on mother's milk plus top milk which is fortified with vitamins, as well as nearly all vegetarian foods like legumes, pulses, fresh greens and egg or some other high protein source (soya beans is one, for example, that veggies can be given).
