What Causes Black Specks In Urine?

Yes I have been having pain on my right side for several months. I had a colonoscopy which was good. Had a Small Bowel series which showed nothing. I started having pain on my right back side just below my ribs, but being tired of test, I just decided to take the wait and maybe it will get better approach. Today when I urinated there were lots of black specks in my urine. I wondered if they had been in the toilet before. So the next time I had to go I looked first and then went. There were there again although not as many. I have no burning when urinating.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Possible shedding of epithelial casts with clotted blood stain gives black specks in the urine.

Initial approach with plenty of liquids, urinary alkaliser as potassium citrate is recommended from this platform.

Later on, if the condition persists, must visit for the prescription of urine culture and ultrasound prescription.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
