What Causes Black Stool When Diagnosed With Blood Clots In The Spleen?

Over a week ago I had a CT scan done showing I had an enlarged spleen as well as enlarged lymph nodes. They also said I have blood clots in my spleen. I have tested positive for mono. I have noticed a black stool the past 2 days. Is it possible to have a small tear in my spleen causing me to slowly internally bleed?

Hello,

Yes, it is possible of spontaneous rupture of a patient with suffering from infectious mononucleosis with an enlarged spleen.

It is possible that bleeding in the stool or externally is due to thrombocytopenia. Please consult your doctor so that he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu
