Hello and welcome,

I understand your concern.

We usually advice to remove the IUD on day 2 of periods as this avoids all such issues. Also if the IUD was hormone containing then it is more likely to result in irregular bleed for the first month after removal. However as of now if the bleeding has been fair for 3-4 days and then light for the initial or last few days most likely it was a period.

Other reasons for such bleed may be hormonal issues but they are less likely in your case. Cervical erosions also cause a very light bleed but if a doctor or a nurse removed the IUD then she would have noticed it while removing. The bleeding if it is a regular period will stop in a few days. If not then you may need to see your doctor for it and get an examination for the cause. Also tablet tranexamic acid may be used if the bleeding is heavy to stop it temporarily.

As of now, if the bleeding stops then just keep track of your next few periods. If they are regular then there is no need to worry. If they are irregular then you will need to see your gynecologist.

Hope this satisfies your query.
