Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
When i have a bowel movement, there is always alot of bleeding. It looks like a really heavy period bleed, except its coming from the other end? Its dark coloured, and even has blood clots and like i said, a lot of blood. Im certain its coming from higher up in my body. Not my anus. Im only 24, what can this be?
Noted your history of bleeding after bowel movement, being in heavy quantity and fresh, sometimes clots too. The commonest cause I can think about at the age of 24 are as follows: Internal hemorrhoids. Rectal polyp. Rectal ulcer. Rare chance of cancer as you are young. Hence I would advise you the following: Consult your Doctor and get a reference for ano-proctoscopy as well as plan for colonoscopy. This will surely give the most proper diagnosis and a plan for proper management. Also needed is the tests of stool. Tests of blood and see if there is low hemoglobin, get replaced or take iron supplements as per the reports. Take stool softeners to keep the stools soft and easily passable. Go for the definitive treatment.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. T Chandrakant, General Surgeon
