What Causes Bleeding In The Nose And Vagina During Old Age?

My 72 year old mother is on blood thinners and has been experiencing nosebleeds and vaginal bleeding. It was determined that her INR was 5.4 so show was given a vitamin K shot and talking off the blood thinner. The bleeding has stopped and the level has dropped to 3.2 but no one has looked into the source of the bleeding. She is in a nursing rehab facility should remove her and get her to an emergency room?

Hi There

Patient who get easy bleed they can have vaginal bleeding on blood thinners . Once the INR is normal then further investigation for vaginal bleed should be evaluated for vaginal cancer or non cancerous tumors to be on the safer side.

Nosebleed is unexpected on blood thinners . High blood pressure could have been the reason for nosebleed. and once the bleeding is managed she need not to be in emergency. You should talk to attending physician for further details . God bless your mom with health.

Good Luck
