What Causes Bleeding Lump On The Gum Of A One Year Old?

my one year old son has his four upper teeth and 4 lower teeth, I know his molars will be cutting through any time. today I found on the bottom jaw a fleshy lump the size a tooth would be, split down the middle, bleeding. there is no tooth in it. whats going on?
