Hallow Dear,

Bleeding after 2 and half weeks of abortion is definitely to be taken seriously. Moreover, you pregnancy test is positive about 20 days after abortion. Even if it is incomplete abortion, since the baby is non-viable, pregnancy test should become negative after two and half weeks.

Usually, after abortion, the pregnancy test becomes negative after about a week to 10 days. If it is still positive after 20 days and you are still bleeding, you should get yourself examined and investigated for molar pregnancy or choriocarcinoma.

Please get your quantitative estimation of hCG levels done. Very high levels (more than 100000) suggest choriocarcinoma. This is a cancer of the placental tissue. It spreads very fast through blood. However, it is very sensitive to chemotherapy and can be completely cured by medicines like Methotrexate or Actinomycin D. If untreated, this bleeds very profusely and reaches distant organs like lungs very fast.

Ultrasonography also would help you diagnosing the condition; however, quantitative estimation of hCG is mandatory investigation in such condition.

I hope you get the message.

Hello dear
Understand your concern
Please consult your gynecologist as early as possible.
Minor bleeding may be there for week after the medical abortion.
But if more than week, it suggests incomplete abortion or may be pelvic inflammatory disorder.

So please consult the gynecologist and do follow up USG and cofirm for incomplete abortion, if product is remained you can go for surgical procedure to remove remaining products.

Hope this may help you
Best regards
Dr. Sagar
