What Causes Bleeding While Urination?

Just had a pee, went well, no pain/burning (urine looked normal ) then noticed dry blood on foreskin, got a napkin, wiped it then opened up eye of penis & found it bleeding a deep red blood.Am currently on 500mg Augmentin for minor Diverticula which was found whilst being treated for a chest infection. The penis has had no Trauma. Had my urine tested for blood three days ago, negative result.I am a male aged 64.75.Forced another pee 30 mins later, definitely no blood as very clear & again no pain/burning.No sign of bleeding again after 10 mins.

Urologist 's  Response
Hello
Thanks for query .
You had single episode of bleeding while urinating without any associated urinary symptoms like burning ,frequency etc .

This is most likely to be due to rupture of superficial vein on the surface of enlarged prostate which is common at this age and needs to be investigated .

Please consult qualified Urologist for clinical and digital rectal examination and get following basic tests done to confirm the diagnosis.
1) Urine routine and culture.
2) Ultrasound scanning of abdomen and pelvis
3) Serum PSA.

Further treatment will depend upon result of these tests and final diagnosis.
