What Causes Bloating And Blood In Stool?

When my husband wipes after going to the bathroom there is bright red blood on toilet paper and in the water. His stomach is "distended" I guess is the right word. He says it looks like he is pregnant. He has no problem with gas. He eats a good diet with lots of fruit and vegies. Can you help.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As per your complain you have a problem of blood in stool and abdominal swelling problem.

Ultrasonography can be done for further diagnosis. Stool examination test is helpful to detect any infection present or not. Consult a gastroenterologist for further diagnosis. Physical examination and history give exact idea about problems.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Rachana Goswami
