What Causes Bloating And Swollen Ankles After Tylenol Overdose?

Hello, I was in the hospital for 5 days sept 3-7 from Tylenol overdose. I was on IV and other medication brought in from poison control. I was at a high of 8000 enzymes. I had very low appetite and vomiting constantly. They released me from hospital after 5 day treatment saying that the toxins and poisons are all out of body. Thankfully I did not need liver transplant. My concern now is that I am bloated like a ballon and my ankles are swollen. I can not understand why. I am scheduled to see my doctor next week Sept 15. That s the earliest appt. Should I see a doctor sooner or will this bloated feeling go down on its own.

Hello
You took overdoses tylenol i.e .paracetamol and remained in the hospital for 5 days .
Now you are having bloating and swelling on the ankles .
Large doses caused gastritis ( hyper acidity ) in your case and this is main cause of bloating . When such case visit we, advise to avoid fried , greasy , oily foods and take some enzymatic preparation . Also take some antacid , but in there is severe bloating then take pantoprazole-d , once or twice in day ( however, normal dose is once in day , but all depend on severity of symptoms).
As you are also having swelling on ankles , that is a cause of concern.
Large doses ( > 6 g) of paracetamol as in acute poisoning produce extensive hepatocellular damage and RENAL TUBULAR NECROSIS ( so swelling on ankles may be due to this ) .
So consult a physician and get in MRI of both kidneys .
Good luck.
