What Causes Blood Blister On Knee Of An Infant?

My 11month old daughter has what looks like a blood blister on her left knee, surrounded by a red swollen area. She crawls with that knee off the ground, and cries when any pressure is applied to it. I'm thinking we need to see her ped. but can't get in until this afternoon. I'm worried about her, what can I do for her in the mean time?

Hi...by what you quote it could be a -

1. Pressure induced blister
2. Small hematoma of collection of blood post pressure or trivial trauma
3. Bleeding disorder in which the blood is collecting in the weight bearing or pressure bearing area.

If I were your pediatrician I suggest working up for a bleeding disorder so that we can be rest assured that it is only a pressure induced blister.
