Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I'm 16-year-old female. And this past week I've been having bright red blood in my stool. This never happened to me before. There wasn't any pain and I didn't strain myself. First time when the feces came out, it looked normal, but then second time, it would be covered in bright red blood. I'm not sure if it's hemorrhoids, but is it something I need to be worrying about? Do I need to go see a doctor?
I understand your concern. I think that your symptoms are related to hemorrhoids. Some advice that I can give to you are :
1) Apply an over-the-counter hemorrhoid cream or suppository containing hydrocortisone.
2) Use pads containing witch hazel or a numbing agent.
3) Soak regularly in a warm bath or sitz bath. Soak your anal area in plain warm water 10 to 15 minutes two to three times a day. If it doesn't get better, see a gastroenterologist.
Hope my this clarifies your concern. Thank you for the query.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
