What Causes Blood Discharge In The Urine Post Head Injury?

My brother fell and hit his head really hard four days ago. He was knocked unconscious. The ambulance was called, but he refused to be taken to the hospital. His urine is now red. He doesn t want to eat because he s nauseous and he doesn t want to get out of bed. Any clue what this could mean?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Presence of blood in urine with a patient of head injury history is not normal, as it may indicate worsening coagulation system, development of disseminated intravascular coagulation via underlying brain hemorrhage or else.

He requires immediate hospitalisation, MRI brain and further care with an expert neurosurgeon, it is a surgical emergency, Please act promptly and call 911.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
