Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
after I passed some flatulence, I noticed my underwear had a red stain, indicating blood had been blown out from the flatulence. I'm 37, 180 lbs. and 5'7". I have had ulcers in the past, but a stool test from about two months ago found no blood in the stools, then.
Stool test was done two months ago hence is not of much importance now. Since there was a stain on the underwear on passing flatulence means there was blood that came out with gas. Hence I would advise you the following in such a situation: -Repeat the stool test along with relevant blood tests. -Ano-proctoscopy and colonoscopy can help you the best to get the exact cause and get treated accordingly. -Take a high fiber diet. -May need an antibiotic and metronidazole cover if there is any evidence of infection. -Get the ultrasound of the abdomen to see for the gallstones or any other cause of flatulence and get treated as per the findings. -Take activated charcoal tablets, yogurt, and probiotics. -Avoid the foods and beverages that instigate or enhance the problems.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. T Chandrakant
