Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I noticed this morning that I had a few drops of blood in stool and on toilet paper again this afternoon. I had really spicy chicken wings last night and was worried I might have had Ecoli. I had a bit of stomach discomfort but not really painful. Infrequently in the past Ive noticed a few times where a few drops of blood was in stool but not sure if related or a persistent condition? Any idea what this could be. After reading some things online I was concerned about cancer/polyps
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Blood in stool may be due to hemorrhoid or fissure or fistulas or dysentery or diarrhea etcetera. Until examination is done, it is difficult to say what it is.
Avoid spicy food, alcohol, smoking and caffeine drinks.
Take soft diet and drink plenty of liquids. If symptoms do not improve, please consult your doctor who will examine and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu
