What Causes Blood In Bowels?

Hi - I'm 34 yrs old, 4"11 at 150lbs. Just this morning, I defecated with streams of bright red blood. I thought I'm menstruating but I'm not. I tried to ignore but tonight, as I tried to move my bowels, which didn't push thru, there was the same bright red blood again. I'm so scared I get any serious digestive problem. i admit I haven't been drinking enough liquids and not religious in eating ample amount of fruits ang veggies. Please help and enlighten me. Thank you very much
