Just checking possible causes for some symptoms my 16 year old nephew is experiencing. He started having blood in his urine this past weekend, the blood was dark and then went to tea colored. He never had a fever, but felt fatigued. He went to the Dr. on Monday and some of his labs came back abnormal. His protein was 3 plus in his urine, and blood 3 plus also. His all phosphate, ast and alt are elevated in his lab work also. He is scheduled for a kidney ultrasound tomorrow. Just wondering what some possible causes might be.
Hello Thanks for query. Presence of blood in urine and proteinuria strongly suggests Glomerulonephriopathy and needs detail evaluation .
Consult qualified Nephrologist for clinical assessment and get following basic tests done to establish diagnosis. 1) Urine routine and Urine Culture 2) Measurement of protein in urine in 24 hours sample of urine 3) Renal function test 4) Blood Coagulation profile 5) Ultrasound scanning of abdomen and pelvis. 6) C.T Scan of the abdomen . Further treatment or any more test to be needed will be decided by him based on result of these basic tests.
